Boston Bruins....Game 7 vs Carolina
I'm afraid to post before the game is even played...y'know, for fear of "cursing" the B's.
But...C'Mon Bruins!!!  Beat Carolina tonight...for me.  Please?
I sure hope this kid is at the game again. He was at Game 5 and nobody was having more fun than him!  He was shown briefly on the VS broadcast.  It all gets funny at about the 1 minute mark of the video.  Someone at the game was filming the video highlights on the scoreboard during a break in the action. Dropkick Murphy's Shipping Off to Boston rockin' the crowd.

Did You Know Tuesday
Did you know that the youngest player ever inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame is Boston Bruins great Bobby Orr at the age of 31? The 3-year waiting period for nomination was dropped when Orr was forced to retire (as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks) in 1979 because of continuing knee problems that plagued him his entire career.

Despite the bad knees, Orr’s amazing abilities and skill have made him one of the greatest hockey players of all time, and that’s not just blowing smoke. Check out these amazing stats:

--won 2 Stanley Cups with the Boston Bruins (1970 and 1972)
--is the only hockey player to ever win the Norris Trophy (top defenseman), Art Ross Trophy (points), Hart Memorial Trophy (MVP for a team), and Conn Smythe Trophy (Stanley Cup MVP) in one season (1970)
--won Norris Trophy additionally in 1968, 1969, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974 and 1975
--won Art Ross Trophy additionally in the 1974-75 season in which he became the ONLY defenseman to EVER lead the league in scoring
--won the Hart Trophy additionally in 1971 and 1972
--won the Conn Smythe Trophy again in 1972, becoming the first NHL player to win this award twice
--first defenseman to score 40 goals in a season (1974-75)
--the highest +/- (+124) in one season ever in the NHL (1970-71)

Upon his retirement, Gordie Howe said, ""Losing Bobby was the greatest blow the National Hockey League has ever suffered."

Orr played for the Bruins from 1966 – 1976 before being traded to the Chicago Blackhawks in a deal that has since been exposed as fraudulent due to lies and deceit of his then agent, lawyer Alan Eagleson who was buddies with the owners of the Chicago Blackhawks. However, because of his ongoing knee problems, Orr was only able to play 26 games with the Blackhawks over his three years there. He never cashed any of his paychecks from the Blackhawks because he said he was paid to play hockey, and if he couldn’t play, then he wouldn’t take the money from them. What an amazing guy, athlete and person.

You can have your Wayne Gretzkys, Guy Lafleurs, Rocket Richards, Mike Bossys, Mario Lemieuxs….all great hockey players without a doubt. But for me, the greatest hockey player of all time was Bobby Orr, who resides in the Boston area and is a player agent for the great Boston Bruins.

Bobby's number 4 was retired by the Boston Bruins and raised to the rafters of Boston Garden in 1979.

Orr will be 61 on March 20th of this year.

Boston Bruins!

Tonight the Boston Bruins begin their quest for the Stanley Cup with a game out in Colorado against the Avalanche.

Okay gang…you heard it here first: the Bruins are getting to the third round of the playoffs this year. I mean, I really hope they win the Cup, but it’s gonna be tough to get by Detroit.

Go Bruins!

Update: Bruins 5 Avalanche 4

Damn...Bruins got Crushed

Well, the hockey season is over for my Boston Bruins. The Montreal Canadians absolutely dominated the B's all night, and crushed them 5-0.

What an embarrassing way to end the season.

But, the Bruins did take a mediocre season and turn it into an exciting (except for tonights blowout) series, taking the Habs to 7 games. The Bruins are going to be a much better team next year, so watch out every-other-team in the NHL.

Time to look forward to next hockey season, though. And in order to see that, I see I'll have to look through a summer filled with Red Sox games!!

Go Sox!

BOSTON BRUINS!!!!

Well, I am currently in a state of ecstatic euphoria. The Boston Bruins…my favorite hockey team…have actually come back from a 3 games to 1 deficit against the Montreal Canadians in Round 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs to tie the series at 3-3. The last two games have seen a resurgent Boston team fighting to make it to the next round. And boy are the playing fucking great hockey, I’m telling you!!

With my birthday being tomorrow, tonight’s win was a nice early birthday gift from my boys in black and gold. Yes…they did it for me. haha

Now it’s down to the final game of the series. Game 7. Monday night in Montreal.

Do not…I repeat, DO NOT…call me Monday night anytime between 7pm and 10pm.

If the Bruins win, however, I will accept calls of congratulations between 10pm and 10:05pm.

Things I'm Excited About

1. The new album by James was released in the UK today. Hey Ma should be arriving in my mail tomorrow or the next day. (UPS...don't let me down.) Once I receive it and listen to it, I'll let you know what I think.

2. My best friend is getting married. My best friend is a girl. Weird, I know. Guys and girls aren't supposed to be best friends. But, it works for us. Anyway, she got engaged on St Patty's Day to a really super cool and laid back dude. They're gonna be happy together, and I'm psyched for both of them.

3. The Boston Bruins made the NHL playoffs. I can't see them getting out of the first round vs the Canadians, but I'm cheering for them to do so. And to win the Stanley Cup this year.

4. Being back home after my 9 day trip to Philly. It was a blast! Saw great friends in Rhode Island, super duper friends in Philly, and friends in Allentown during my excursion. But, I am happy to be back home. Ahhhhhhhhh.....home.

and last but not least......

5. College basketball is finally going to be fucking DONE for the year. I hate college and pro basketball. It's just not my thing. I would rather watch the snowpile at the end of my driveway melt than watch a single minute of a college or pro basketball game. I will be the happiest person on Earth when the final game in the March Madness thing is over tonight. I may be the only person within the United States who does not have a bracket sheet going. Not. A. One.
