Tarred and Weathered

Well, the contractor is just about done putting a foundation/full basement under my house in Maine. As you can see here, the house has been lowered onto the foundation, and he’s finished tarring the foundation walls as part of the weatherproofing/waterproofing portion. He only has to install the cellar windows, the outside basement entrance door and then fill the hole back in.

As of this post, I’m 38 days away from my move out of Philadelphia and back to my hometown of Orono, Maine.

The stress levels have started increasing, too. Moving is hard! Cutting off utilities in the old place while having to set up utilities at the new location. Changing my address with magazine subscriptions and bills. Packing. Cleaning. Making sure I’ve got everything I need to set up my home office for my company. Securing a moving truck.

Do I have enough money to make this move????

Yeah, stressin’ out a little. I’m not looking forward to leaving my friends and social circles that I’ve spent 12 years establishing in Philly. But, to be honest, I’ll be glad to be out of this major city and back to the quieter country living.

I laughed at the start of your post along with the pictures, because I thought hmmm its only the most unique folks that build the foundation and basement under their already existing house.

33 days to go if my counting's right!

haha! So, you're telling me I should've had the foundation done first, then build the house on top of it?

Never thought of it....
